The Constitution of Johor Golf and Country Club was approved at the Annual General Meeting held on 12 March 2009 and amended at the Annual General Meeting held on 23 July 2010.

Highlights

  • Objectives (§3) — to provide and serve as a centre for sporting, social, educational and recreational activities for its members and families; to conduct those activities for their benefit; to promote and develop the various sports conducted by the Club; and to maintain good standing with the governing and regulatory bodies of its sports.
  • Membership categories (§6) — Honorary, Ordinary, Life, Corporate, Junior and Term.
  • Honorary Members (§7.1) — His Majesty The Sultan of Johor, His Royal Highness The Tunku Mahkota Johor and the Hon. Prime Minister of Malaysia shall be invited by the Committee to become Honorary Members.
  • Ordinary Members (§8) — classified as Government, Local (Private Sector) and Foreign. Election is by ballot of the Committee and requires a two-thirds majority (§8.3). A candidate who is not elected may reapply after one year; a second rejection is permanent (§8.7).
  • Junior Members (§10.1) — open from age 18 to under 23, with a parent who is an Ordinary or Life Member. Junior Members pay a monthly subscription, have no vote and may not introduce guests.
  • Term Members (§11.1) — Malaysians and foreigners posted to Johor Bahru for a short period. No subscription fee and no vote at General Meetings.
  • Management (§14.1) — the President shall be the Menteri Besar Johor and the Deputy President the State Secretary Johor. Only Malaysian-citizen Ordinary or Life Members may be elected to the Committee (§15.2).
  • General Meetings (§15.3) — notice of any General Meeting is given at least 14 clear days in advance on the Club Notice Board and by post. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be requisitioned by 5% of the total Ordinary and Life Members.
  • Families (§22.7) — wives and children below the age of 18 of Ordinary and Life Members are accorded all the privileges of such members.
