Categories

The Constitution provides for six categories of membership: Honorary, Ordinary, Life, Corporate, Junior and Term.

• Ordinary — open to citizens and non-citizens, classified as Government, Local (Private Sector) or Foreign.
• Life — by invitation of the Committee, with all the rights, benefits and privileges of an Ordinary Member.
• Corporate — a company may nominate two persons as its corporate nominees, each entitled to the rights and privileges of an Ordinary Member.
• Junior — from age 18 to under 23, for the children of Ordinary and Life Members. Junior Members pay a monthly subscription, have no vote and may not introduce guests.
• Term — for Malaysians and foreigners posted to Johor Bahru for a short period. No subscription fee and no vote at General Meetings.

How to apply

Applications are made on the Club’s prescribed form, proposed and seconded by existing members. Election is by ballot of the Management Committee and requires a two-thirds majority; the ballot takes place after the expiry of one month from the date the application is posted on the Club Notice Board. A candidate who is not elected may reapply after one year.
